Getting to Know You! Meet: Tim & Kendall Pfeifer

Tim and Kendall Pfeifer will be reprising their roles as St. John’s members when Tim becomes our church’s new Directory of Music Ministry beginning this June. Before Tim took a music position at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Bend, they were members of St. John’s for about four years.

As the current music director, Tim is excited about the opportunity to bring his 30-plus years of sacred music to his new role, including playing the piano and organ, directing choirs and working with varied soloists, instrumentalists, and ensembles. While all of that might sound pretty serious in the context of providing a meaningful worship experience, Tim will also bring some silliness (that is, the “joy” in “joyful noise”). When recently asked what his strongest asset is, he replied, “telling stories.” When asked what his greatest weakness is, he replied, “telling stories.”

Before retiring in 2023, Tim worked for the Village of Slinger in the water utility department, where he managed the testing lab and helped with overall operations. He’s really a science geek behind the piano! Tim also coached soccer for 18 years as a side gig in the Hartford School District.
Kendall has degrees in psychology and gerontology, and worked in geriatric care until she retired in 2020—thanks to COVID. She plays the flute and enjoys gardening, playing cards, and creating fiber art. She can’t wait to get involved at St. John’s again with the Prayer Shawl Ministry and reaching out to our church’s homebound members.

Although Kendall and Tim have grown children and grandchildren, the biggest babies in their lives are “Grace and Frankie”—an exuberant Australian Shepherd and a shy Border Collie rescue, both of whom are very spoiled!
Fun Facts:
• It was in the cards: Tim has bestowed on Kendall the moniker “Canasta Masta.” Anyone want to learn/play?
• “The truth is out there” … always searching the skies for invasions, Tim is a self-proclaimed sci-fi nut and avid follower of “Ancient Aliens.” Warning: Do not get him started!
• Tim and Kendall have a small cabin in Three Lakes, WI, where fishing, hiking, and swimming—while listening to nature’s choir—are favorite summer pastimes.
If you have any questions or ideas about the music at St. John’s, Tim is all ears. Please feel free to reach out to him at tpfeiferpiano1@yahoo.com or 262-224-5506.
